FAQS

WHAT METHOD DO WE USE FOR CLEANING?

The method we use for cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as “steam cleaning”. Acqua Carpet cleaning hot water extraction method removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently. Hot, soft water and a specially formulated cleaning solution are injected deep within the carpet fibers. Then, a powerful suction extracts deep-down dirt, allergens, cleaning solution and 95% of the moisture. It’s the cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers

DO I NEED TO VACUUM BEFORE THE CREW ARRIVES?

A light vacuuming is recommended. In a carpet a high degree of the soil content is actually in dry particulate soil which can be removed by vacuuming. Our crew can vacuum for you for a charge. But in order to provide you with affordable rates we do ask you to vacuum before our crew arrives.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER AS A ROOM?

We consider a room an area that is 225 square feet (15 x 15). Living room/dining room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 225 square feet but less than 600 square feet is priced as two areas. We count staircase as a room. Non-standard areas (baths, halls, walk-in-closets, etc.) are priced separately from the standard areas, usually at a lesser price.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CLEAN MY CARPETS?

On average, It will take approximately 20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on how soiled that carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

DO YOU MOVE FURNITURE?

We move small items. We do recommend to clear the areas before our crew arrives.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY CARPET TO DRY?

The Drying process will be influenced by many factors; including the cleaning method, the amount of soil, the temperature, the ventilation and air flow of the building. Ceiling fans and regular fans and Air conditioners dry the air and helps reduce the dry times. You may walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning, but avoid wearing street shoes, as they may re-soil your carpet. We suggest wearing clean rubber soled shoes. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas onto non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.

I HAVE HEARD THAT CLEANING MY CARPETS WILL MAKE IT SOIL FASTER. IS THIS TRUE?

The problem results from residues being left in the carpet which attract dirt. Usually this is caused by the use of soap in the cleaning process that hasn’t been rinsed out completely. Our specially formulated solution and hot water extraction cleaning process leaves little to no residue behind to attract dirt.

I HAVE HAD MY CARPETS CLEANED, BUT THE SPOTS HAVE REAPPEARED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Although most spots that are removed from carpet do not reappear, some substances in carpet backing may wick to the surface after cleaning. If this happens, please contact Acqua Carpet Cleaning at 1-855- 224-0911 as soon as possible.

DO YOU GUARANTEE REMOVAL OF ALL SPOTS AND STAINS IN THE CARPET?

We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor the carpet fibers. The age of the carpet and the type of carpet fibers also plays a factor in this. The technician will try to determine if this is the case prior to cleaning but they are not always able to determine this before trying to remove the spots.

DO YOU BACKGROUND CHECK YOUR TECHNICIANS

We never sub-contract, so our technicians are in house and always background checked, drug tested, Certified through IICRC and properly trained by Acqua Carpet Cleaning employees. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work.

FUNDAMENTALS OF CARPET CLEANING

DRY SOIL REMOVAL (VACUUM)

In a Carpet a high degree of the soil content is actually in dry particulate soil which can be removed by vacuuming. Virtually all the experts as well as anybody involved in cleaning realize that loose soil is easier to remove dry than wet. Once loose dirt has been turned into mud the carpet cleaning process is more difficult.

SOIL SUSPENSION

The purpose is to remove the soil from the fiber and hold it in suspension until it can be removed. In Carpet cleaning the four areas involved in soil suspension are critical in the cleaning process. As you decrease the use of one of these 4 fundamentals the others must increase for effective soil suspension. These fundamentals are listed in the IICRC S100 Standards.

C = chemical Action
H = heat
A = agitation
T = time

CHEMICAL ACTION

The first step in soil suspension is pre conditioning. No matter what the method of cleaning. Eco-Friendly detergents and additives provide the wetting, sequestering and emulsification necessary for complete soil removal. Water by itself is not a good cleaner.

HEAT

The chemical activity of cleaning solutions increases significantly as the temperature of the solution increases. Higher temperatures also often, melt and cut through oils and greases. This makes removal of other soils much easier. U.S Environmental Protection Agency in a study confirmed in 1991 and 1994 that hotter cleaning solutions have a positive effect on indoor air quality by reducing the levels of biological contamination in soiled carpets by between 43-83%

AGITATION

Agitation is especially helpful in heavy traffic areas in that it aids in distribution of the cleaning agent as well as soil suspension. The machine agitation can be accomplished with a rotary scrubber using a special nylon brush, carpet bonnet, or other rotating type brush machines. Time thus enters time. No matter how powerful the machine, how great the chemical, you cannot do a complete job without allowing your cleaning agent time to dwell on the carpet. A good quality Pre-Spray is designed to break these oily residues, but only when given sufficient time.

EXTRACTION (Removal)

Extract means remove. Removal of the soil can be accomplished with wet extraction method or “steam” cleaning.

DRYING

The Drying process is simply a matter of time. It will be influenced by many factors; including the cleaning method, the amount of soil, the temperature, the ventilation and air flow of the building. Ceiling fans and regular fans and Air conditioners dry the air and helps reduce the dry times.
